Dear friends, supporters, and generous hearts,
When the sky above Sudan darkened with the echoes of war on April 15, 2023, millions of lives were shattered: families torn apart, homes destroyed, children robbed of a future. Since that day, our mission as SSAW (Support Survivors of African War) and the SSSW project (Support Survivors of Sudan War) has been clear: we cannot turn away. We cannot remain silent. And thanks to you, we haven’t.
On April 2, 2025, a moment of light pierced through this journey. With the collection of materials gathered in Lodi, made possible by the extraordinary generosity of the Parish of Saints Bassiano and Fereolo, the Parish Caritas, and the entire Lodi community, we reached a milestone that fills us with gratitude and determination: 60% of our container is now full. Food to nourish the hungry, baby supplies to protect the most vulnerable, medical supplies to heal wounds, school materials to restore dreams to children—every single donation is a piece of the hope we are building together.
But this isn’t just a number. It’s a symbol. It’s proof that solidarity can transcend borders, that a small gesture in Lodi can reach the heart of Sudan. It’s a testament to what we can achieve when we come together, when we decide that the pain of others isn’t distant, but ours to share.
We began in March 2023 with an ambitious goal: to fill an entire container with aid by June 15, 2025, to bring relief to those struggling to survive a conflict they didn’t choose. Today, with just over a month until the deadline, we stand at 60%. It’s a remarkable achievement, but it’s not the end of the road. It’s an invitation to do more, to keep going, to look further.
From Lodi, our gaze now shifts to Milan and other cities. We are opening new collection points, reaching out to new hands, seeking new voices to join our chorus. Every box of food, every bandage, every notebook we add to the container is a step toward 100%, toward tangible help for those who have lost everything. And we will do it together, because this isn’t just our mission—it’s yours.
To you who have donated, who have believed in us, who have chosen to act: thank you. Thank you for bringing us this far. But we ask a little more of your heart.
