Voices for Sudan: Reggio Emilia Stands Up – And Together, We Reached 100%!
Viale Risorgimento 2/1 – June 14, Reggio Emilia
Hosted by: Città Migrante
In collaboration with: SSAW – Support Survivors of African War & Mediterranea Saving Humans – Reggio Emilia
As part of the national campaign “Voices for Sudan: Breaking the Silence,” the city of Reggio Emilia came together for an unforgettable evening of solidarity, story-sharing, and collective action. And now, we’re proud to share that — thanks to YOU — we’ve officially reached 100% of our aid shipment goal.
A Night of Truth, Pain, and Hope
Hosted by Città Migrante, the event featured powerful testimonies that moved the room to silence — and then to action.
Elsiddig Yousif, Khalid Abaker, and Awad Muhamadein from SSAW traveled from Milan to share firsthand stories of suffering, resilience, and the urgency of international attention.
Their words reminded us: silence is complicity — and community is power.
We are deeply grateful to Sara Ubalid of Mediterranea Saving Humans – Reggio Emilia for her dedication to making this event possible. Her energy and vision helped create a space where voices could rise and be heard.
Mission Accomplished: The Campaign Reaches 100%
Today, June 15, marks the official close of SSAW’s national campaign — and we’re proud to say: we did it.
The container docked in Torin is now fully stocked with:
✅ Medical supplies
✅ Nutritional aid
✅ School materials
✅ Children’s essentials
What began as a call to action has become a nationwide effort — with Reggio Emilia playing a powerful role in reaching this incredible milestone.
Behind the Scenes: Where We’re Headed Now
Here’s what’s next as the campaign enters its final phase:
-
On May 31st, SSAW was in Turin for an event with the Organizatione Global Aid Connection and to inspect the container.
-
Final contributions are arriving from Bardonecchia and Turin (June 14), with another visit to Reggio Emilia the same day.
-
The container will be scheduled to depart within June 30.
-
No confirmed updates yet on the route to Sudan — three possible humanitarian corridors remain under review.
Thank You, Reggio Emilia (and Beyond)
To every attendee, to the journalists who traveled from far, to the volunteers, and to everyone who donated, shared, or simply listened — thank you.
You’ve proven that solidarity has no borders. Sudan is not forgotten. And together, we’ve turned compassion into concrete support.
With deep gratitude, giornalista
